Use of the site
The calculators are provided free of charge for personal and commercial estimating use. You may not scrape, republish, or resell the site's content or tools as your own, or attempt to disrupt the site's operation.
Estimates only — not professional advice
Every calculator on this site produces an estimate based on the formulas and figures you enter. Results are for general planning purposes only and are not a substitute for advice from a licensed contractor, engineer, architect, or your material supplier. See the Disclaimer page for more detail.
Saved calculations, projects, and local storage
Save, Favorites, Recent calculations, and Projects store data — including any names you type in — only in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers. We have no access to it, can't back it up or recover it for you, and it can be lost if you clear your browser's data, switch browsers or devices, or use private/incognito browsing. You're responsible for the content of any names or notes you enter into these features.
No warranty
The site and its calculators are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, JoistCalc and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including material overages, shortages, project delays, or costs — arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its calculators.

Intellectual property
The site's design, layout, copy, and code are owned by JoistCalc unless otherwise noted. The underlying construction formulas are standard industry knowledge and are not proprietary.
Governing law
This site is operated from the United States, and these terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. If any provision of these terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect. Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived by agreement.
